A Madison tenant accused of killing his landlord has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and his wife and child have been found unharmed.
Edgar Salinas-Leal was still at large Tuesday. According to the criminal complaint filed Monday, the 24-year-old is accused shooting 38-year-old Darrell Ballweg in his home Friday night. The Wisconsin State Journal reports he and Salinas-Leal fought over Ballweg’s initial refusal to give some food to Salinas-Leal’s wife.
Salinas-Leal is also accused of fleeing in the victim’s vehicle. Police didn’t initially know if his wife and baby went voluntarily.
But Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said Tuesday police have found the woman and child unharmed. The vehicle was also found in a parking lot.
