The Fair Tenant Screening Act, SSB 6315, was passed in Washington State on March 15th, 2012. This bill addresses problems with tenant screening reports and the barriers to housing that they can create. It requires adverse action notices, publishing of screening criteria and establishes a workgroup of stakeholders to study other problems including the reporting of evictions, the high cost of the reports and the sometimes illegal and inaccurate information in the reports.
