The landlord of the Pul Prahladpur house, rented by two suspected Indian Mujahideen men on September 20-21, did not get the tenant verification done.

The Delhi Police claimed that Asad Khan and Imran Khan, arrested for their suspected role in August 1 bomb blasts in Pune, stayed in the ‘Raggi ke flats’ apartment complex in GD Block of Pul Prahladpur.

Asad and Imran, along with two others — Sayyed Feroze and Mohammed Irfan Mustafa Langde — have been arrested in connection with the Pune blasts, and for plotting serial blasts in Delhi.

Asad and Imran rented the house with the help of another suspected IM operative, Raju Bhai, through a property dealer.

“The landlord is one of our witnesses, so we will not register a case against him for renting the flat without verification,” police said.

Police said Irfan, who was picked up on October 10, told them that alleged LeT operative Fayaz Kagzi is hiding in Saudi Arabia under the alias Abdul Rahim.

Kagzi is wanted by several anti-terrorist forces.

During questioning, Irfan reportedly told police that in August-September 2010, Asad “directed him to visit Mecca for Umrah and provided him with the number of Abdul Rahim. Irfan, during his visit, met Rahim about 2-3 times”.

Police said it was later that the men who have been arrested came to know that Abdul Rahim was Fayaz Kagzi.

In April 2011, Rahim (Kagzi) met Asad and other arrested IM militants, police said, adding that they had eight to ten meetings.

According to police, during one such meeting Rahim brainwashed the men by showing them provocative videos. Rahim assigned Asad as the leader of the module during this trip, police said.

Asad, during questioning by police, said he got the contact details of Rahim through a member of an Aurangabad-based family.

“Biyani is an accused in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case. His brother met Asad in 2007 and said he knew Abdul Rahim alias Kagzi, who organised terrorist activities. It was Biyani’s brother who boasted to Asad about sending several youth to meet Kagzi to carry out terror activities. The brother is absconding. Biyani’s brother told Asad that their family was in touch with Kagzi, Zabiuddin Ansari and others,” a police officer said.
