Man held for raping tenant

The PalamVihar police have arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly raping a 32-year-old woman, who, with her husband and children, lived as tenant in the house of the suspect. Police are questioning the suspect and he will be produced before a duty magistrate on Sunday.

The suspect has been identified as Shiv Darshan Mishra of Nihal Colony in Palam Vihar. He runs a grocery shop in his house and also works as an electrician at Palam airport through a private utility provider firm.

According to police, the woman, a native of Bihar, lives with her family on rent in Mishra’s house. Her husband is a security guard in Palam Vihar.

On Thursday, he husband was out of station and she was alone with her child at the rented accommodation. The victim, who filed the complaint on Saturday morning, alleged that her landlord raped on Friday, when she was alone.

“After receiving the complaint, we conduct a medical examination of the victim in the civil hospital. After verification, we lodged the FIR against the accused,” said Ashok Bakshi, ACP (Udyog).

“We have arrested Shiv Darshan Mishra and are questioning him,” said inspector Virender Singh, SHO, Palam Vihar police station.
