A large, long-vacant space with a prime location is looking for a new tenant — but it’d better be trendy! Ford Factory Square is the Ponce de Leon Avenue-fronting, mixed-use compilation at the front of the Murder (er…”Beltline”) Kroger parking lot.
Brett Fuller of The Shopping Center Group said the development is actively seeking a tenant to fill the 9,415 square-foot space directly adjacent to Ponce with a “trendy restaurant.” No clue what the interior looks like, but the classic brick facade, large parking lot and constantly improving location seem like the makings of an ideal spot. Nevertheless, the end-cap space has been vacant for more than a year. “The landlord is patiently waiting to find the right concept,” Fuller said.

There’s plenty happening in the vicinity of Ford Factory Square: the Beltline’s Eastside Trail runs right by, soon-to-open Ponce City Market is just on the other side and high-dollar residential developments are sprouting left and right. That said, two projects that will give the area supreme walkability may be a long way off yet.
A possible completion date for the link between the Kroger parking lot and the Beltline has yet to emerge. Initially, the link was supposed to be completed this spring, but it doesn’t appear much, if any, work has been done to date. The Beltline’s Ethan Davidson said the path’s “vertical connection” on the other side of Ponce — near CVS — isn’t scheduled to start construction for at least 18 months.
Fuller said his group is finalizing a lease for the only other available space (No. 17 above) but didn’t specify who’s coming.
