A Bradenton woman has been charged with battery after reportedly attacking a tenant over a rent dispute, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Rita Meckler Fisher, 67, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 7500 block of 15th Avenue Northwest in Bradenton, according to the report.
Deputies arrived at a home Fisher rents out to the victim after Fisher reportedly slapped, battered and kicked her tenant and tried to wrestle her to the ground.
Deputies said Fisher was confronting the victim about overdue rent.
According to the report, Fisher admitted to slapping the victim. “Yeah, I was upset and slapped her in the face. You don’t know what I’ve been through with her. She owes me money.”
Fisher was released Wednesday from Manatee County jail on $500 bond, according to the sheriff’s website.
