The Rivers State Police Command is investigating four men over the alleged kidnap of a 15 -year-old boy identified as John Idhodaye, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 student.
Idhodaye went missing on February 24 and efforts to trace him have proved abortive.

He was living with his guardian at the Eliozu East West Road in Port Harcourt, until February 24 when he left home for school at the GEOCO International College in Port Harcourt.
Sources claimed that four suspects have been arrested over Idhodaye’s disappearance.
They are Iluaka, Ebueke, Adams and Victor who were said to be Idhodaye’s guardian’s tenants.

A family source who identified herself as Madam Goodnews said, “Idhodaye left home that fateful day for school, but he did not return home. His guardian, who he had been living with for about two years, became agitated and went to his school.

“One of his classmates told his guardian that he did not come to school, but he called him to come to the house to collect his textbook. The classmate said the boy came from the back flat where the tenants live to talk to him.

“It was after his guardians heard this that they went to the tenant, Mr. Iluaka’s apartment and saw Idhodaye’s clothes, books, shoes, bags and other belongings including some household goods like TV and DVD he stole from his guardian’s guest room and kept in Mr. Iluaka’s room.

“One of Mr. Iluaka’s brothers called Mofoni was in the room but he was not there with him. The guardians questioned Mofoni about his ward’s whereabouts, but Mofoni could not give any reasonable answer so, they invited family members living in Bori Camp.

“Idhodaye’s family took Mofoni to Bori Camp but shortly after Mr. Iluaka came home with police that his landlord abducted his brother. We don’t know if the policeman he came with is genuine because he left after he learnt that he was missing.

“Mr. Iluaka fled after he could not explain why John’s belongings are in his room. To our surprise, the soldiers at Bori Camp released Mofoni. They said they got a call from Iluaka to release him and Mofoni too went into hiding,” he said.

The matter was later reported at the police command and policemen laid ambush and arrested Mr. Iluaka, Mofoni and Ebuka at the Ronuomasi junction when Iluaka came to receive some of his household goods from Ebuka on February 28. Since then, efforts have been on to find John but he has not been seen. The family is concerned that police are not investigating the case properly because Mr. Iluaka is highly connected and he is bribing the police.

When contacted, the police spokesman, DSP Muhammad told our correspondent to send a text message but he was yet to respond as at Press time.
