Former housing officer jailed for rape of Northfield tenant

A previous lodging officer from Northfield has been imprisoned for the assault of an occupant who had looked for his assistance when she confronted rent unfulfilled obligations.


47 year old Clive Glasford, of Pamela Road, Northfield, was attempted at Birmingham Crown Court this month, blamed for assault against a 27-year-old lady at her Northfield home in November 2013.

The youthful mother had gone to her nearby lodging office for counsel when she discovered herself confronting budgetary troubles and the danger of expulsion by her proprietor.

Glasford later went to the occupant’s home and called her, despite the fact that she had never issued him her number.

After a month, on 12 December 2013, Glasford went to the lady once more, unannounced, after a night drinking at a nearby pub.

Sooner or later the lady woke to discover Glasford attacking her while she rested, with her child dozing close by her.

DC Vicky Kelleher, from Birmingham Public Protection Unit, drove the police request. She said: “This was a stunning misuse of position, where he utilized data about a helpless occupant to complete a horrendous assault.

“What began as a recommendation that possibly he may have the capacity to help the lady in the event that she offered sexual favors, which she declined, then turned vile when he constrained himself upon her in her own home.

“To then have the nerve to assault the lady once more, whilst her child dozed alongside her, is stunning and upsetting in equivalent measure.

“We can dare to dream that seeing Glasford sentenced his intolerable wrongdoings today, and confronting an extensive spell in jail, will offer some solace to his exploited person.”
