The vice president of the Scioto Valley Real Estate Investors Association is taking exception to comments made in a broadcast interview by Mayor Jack Everson earlier this week, concerning the need for more thorough background checks for rental tenants.
Landlord Joe Sharp asks, just how many previous criminal convictions are too many to rent to someone, and is the city willing to give more guidance on where that line needs to be drawn?
Sharp added that he and many other local landlords are doing what they can to keep problem tenants out of their properties.
In the interview on News Radio 1490 WBEX and 92.7FM, the mayor did say he realizes eviction laws are very “clumsy” and need some fixing to help property owners take care of the times where a tenant has abused their privileges and the law.
