A 19-year-old youth was arrested here Tuesday for the murder of his tenant’s seven-year-old boy, whose body was recovered from an air cooler, said police. The suspected killer had an affair with the boy’s mother, they added.
Sachin was arrested for killing Sahil, whose body was recovered Monday from the air cooler of a temple in Gokalpuri in east Delhi, police said.
The boy was killed by hitting his head against a wall and his body stuffed in the air cooler, police said.
Sahil’s mother Sana Khan, who lives separately from her tailor husband, also had a daughter who lived with her relatives in Uttar Pradesh as she did not have the resources to raise two children in Delhi, police said.
Sana often visited Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh to meet her daughter but Sachin objected to it, police said.
“Sachin told Sana to bring her daughter to Delhi but she cited financial constraints. He planned to kill Sahil hoping that after his death she would bring her daughter to Delhi and stop going to Uttar Pradesh frequently,” said a police officer.
Sahil’s body was discovered in the air cooler by a neighbour, two days after the boy went missing, police said.
