A Danbury man was arrested Monday after police said he kicked a door open at a multi-family home on Griffing Avenue.
Police were called to the home around 4 p.m. for a noise complaint. The caller told police that the suspect, Mathews Oliveira Dossantos, was kicking and banging on the door.
When police arrived, they saw the front door had been damaged.
Dossantos, 22, told officers that he was unable to get into the home because he did not have his key to the back door and was never given a key to the front door, according to the report. He said he tried to contact other tenants to let him in, but no one came to the door so he kicked the front door to force it open, police said.
After speaking to the landlord, police charged Dossantos with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
He was held in lieu of $1,000 bond.
Dossantos is also facing a felony charge for carrying a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor charges for threatening and disorderly conduct, according to the state Department of Justice. He’s scheduled to appear in court April 23.
