A woman who reportedly opened credit cards in her landlord’s name has been charged with multiple felonies.

Kristin Annette Roth, 27, will make her initial appearance Monday in Olmsted County District Court, where she faces one count each of identity theft, financial transaction card fraud and theft.

An investigation into the allegations began in May, when a 59-year-old man told police he believed he was the victim of identity theft.

According to the criminal complaint, the man said he rents a home to Roth, who previously had access to his personal information, including his now-missing passport. He had recently been receiving invoices from retailers about accounts he was unaware of.

Credit cards were taken out in the man’s name, the report says, with Roth’s contact information. At one of the retailers, a second card on the account allegedly carried Roth’s name.

The total loss was more than $5,700.
