A 41-year-old man simply identified as Wilfred in Agbor community of Delta State is currently cooling his heels in police custody over the killing of his landlord.
The suspect was said to have confessed that he killed his landlord after he was unable to pay his rent.
He told the police that he committed the crime under extreme provocation, adding that his landlord had allegedly threatened to kill him.
It was reliably gathered that the suspect was owing his landlord seven months rent and paid two months out of it. He promised to pay the remaining months but never did.
DSP Celestine Kālu, police public relation officer in the state, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect killed his landlord with a dangerous object.
She said that the suspect owned up to the crime after the police arrested while attempting to escape, disclosing that he (suspect) will be charge to court after investigation is completed.
