An 82-year-old landlord was beaten so severely, her eyes were swollen shut.
In this Original Report, CBS 2’s Suzanne Le Mignot found out it was at the hands of an alleged tenant.
82 year-old landlord Lillie Wright spoke to CBS 2 from bed about 36-year-old Ezell Brown. Brown is charged with aggravated battery of a victim over 60 years-old.
Wright says Brown rents the basement in her Austin home. On Sunday, while in her vestibule, Wright says Brown came through the main entrance of the property, heading straight to her.
“He just come in and hit me and knocked me down and I said, ‘Now What’s wrong! What’s the matter!’ You know,” Wright said.
Once on the ground, Wright says Brown started kicking her. Just released from the hospital last night, the senior shows us her bruised arm. Her nose is also broken. She said Brown weighs about 300 pounds.
Sources say Brown was under the influence of narcotics.
“I screamed and my son came and kicked the door open and came in and he ran out the back door,” said Wright. “After he started running out the door, he said, ‘What’d I do?’”
Police would later find Brown, hiding under a porch. What saddens Wright the most is she has known Brown since he was 11-years-old.
“You can’t just run over elderly people that always helped you all your life…and you’re going to treat them that way!” she said. “No, don’t want nothing in the world to do with him, anymore.”
Sources say Brown has been arrested 18 times for everything from narcotics, retail theft and resisting and obstructing police. He’ll be in court for this latest charge on Monday.
